About Downsmail

Downsmail is a reference guide to Kent, one town and parish at a time: who lives there, what is listed, which schools serve it and where the trains stop.

Every town, unparished urban area and civil parish in Kent and Medway gets its own page with census population (2001, 2011 and 2021), the number of listed buildings by grade and the scheduled monuments recorded in Wikidata, the schools nearby from the Department for Education register, and the railway stations within its boundary.

We do not publish news. Figures come from open sources and carry their date; schools are matched to the nearest town or parish centre in the same district, so treat the “schools nearby” lists as a guide rather than a catchment map.

Downsmail is an independent project and is not connected with any newspaper that has used a similar name.
